CAPOC - The Fight Goes On!

The Truth at Last

So, finally it’s official - the consultation over Post Office closures was a sham. Don’t tell me you missed it – didn’t get much space in the nationals, radio or tv this week – about as much as the original closure plans got . . .

In February 2008 this website was launched with two objectives: first to provide help to those whose Post Offices were under threat of closure; and second, through the national media, to rally the citizens of the UK to stand united against the Government to halt the closure of well used, viable Post Office Branches

The first objective was a resounding success, with hundreds of action groups taking advantage of the information and advice given. The second was a total failure - the truth about how the closures were being implemented was never published by the national media - we wonder why?

Try as we might we have been unable to find any information on how many local Post Offices have been closed other than the fragmented details on the POLtd Closures site, and no information on the impact on the communities they served. If anyone has access or a link to such information please let us know, as we are constantly being asked for the data.

CAPOC is non political and is not affiliated to any individual political party or organisation, nor any group with a similar acronym or name.

We do however provide links to any organisation that supports CAPOC, and/or gives useful information on campaigning against Post Office Closures, or against the privatisation of the Royal Mail, even where there are conflicts in the approach to the problem, thus giving everyone the chance to see things from all angles and to make such use of all the information as they see fit.
